Morrisville State College to hold drill
Members of Morrisville Emergency Response Team to test preparedness in mock activeshooter exercise.
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. » Morrisville State College will conduct an emergency drill on campus in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies on Friday, March 9.
The one-day intensive training is a mock active-shooter exercise, an essential part of the college’s emergency preparedness efforts.
Members of the Morrisville Emergency Response Team will test their proficiency in handling an emergency and review the outcome of the drill at length. The drill will assist police and local emergency responders in gaining experience responding to an incident in a campus setting. Officers will be armed, but no live ammunition will be used.
Stewart Hall and the Whipple Administration Building will be used as specified locations for the drill.
Morrisville’s Children Center, Edward R. Andrews Elemen-
tary and Morrisville faculty, staff and students have been alerted and all local law enforcement agencies have been made aware of the exercise. Morrisville State College students will be on spring break during the drill.
Participating are members of the New York State University Police, New York State Police, New York State Park Police, SUNY Oswego University Police, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, and Cazenovia and Hamilton police departments.
