Former Salvation Army purchased
The Oneida Saving Bank Charitable Foundation has purchased the former Salvation Army building.
The Oneida Savings Bank Charitable Foundation has purchased the former Salvation Army building located at 123 Farrier Ave. Most recently the building was owned by Community Bank, N.A. following its merger with Oneida Savings Bank in late 2015.
Oneida Savings had renovated the historic structure in 2014 to house its Trust Department which was subsequently relocated to the bank’s 182 Main Street office.
“The former Salvation Army Building is a unique and historic part of downtown Oneida,” said Eric E. Stickels, president of the foundation. “The foundation is focused on supporting organizations and ideas throughout the city and county which make our area special. Bringing life and continued care to this building on Farrier Avenue supports the city’s historic downtown initiatives.”
The foundation will maintain offices on the second floor of the Farrier Avenue building. In addition, the foundation recently engaged Dixon Contracting to complete interior renovations in preparation for the relocation of the Campanie & Wayland-Smith law firm from their current of- fices in Sherrill.
“Our staff of attorneys and legal assistants is thrilled with the prospect of working in this beautifully renovated historic building and being part of the commercial rejuvenation of downtown Oneida,” S. John Campanie said.
“Local businesses including Dixon Building Co. and Office Environment Consulting Inc. made this project a reality,” Stickels said.
A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, Feb. 15 welcoming the Campanie Wayland-Smith law firm and the foundation back to Downtown Oneida.
