Former student charged with threatening school
CAMDEN, N.Y. » A former Camden Central School student has been charged after police say he threatened the school Monday.
Bradley L. Davis Jr., 22, was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony, after the Oswego Police Department was notified around 2 a.m. on Monday that Davis had sent alarming messages over Facebook messenger indicating he planned a school shooting at an unidentified school in the district. Police also determined Davis had sent similar threatening messages to more than one person.
The Oswego Police Department, along with the Camden Police Department, worked together on the initial investigation, but requested the aid of the New York State Police when Davis, who is a transient, could not be located.
Davis was eventually found at a friend’s home in the city of Oneida and taken into custodywithout incident. At the time of his arrest, Davis did not have access to any weapons, according to police reports. Police say it doesn’t appear Davis had any plans to actually attack a school, but was upset over personal issues.
The police notified Camden Central School District immediately; the district cancelled school Monday because Davis had not been found by the time school was set to begin, and it was not clear at the time if he meant to carry out the attack.
Davis was transported to the Oneida County Jail awaiting centralized arraignment. State Police were assisted by Oswego Police Department, Camden Police Department, Oneida Police Department and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
