Mustangs make history
Sunday Results Morrisville State Hockey
Top seeded Morrisville State College women’s ice hockey made program and conference history Sunday afternoon, as they claimed the 2018 Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Championship Title and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Program with a 3-2 hard fought overtime win over second seeded Endicott College on the Mustangs home ice in Morrisville.
The Mustangs will learn their opponent in the tournament Monday morning as the selection show is scheduled to air at 10 a.m.
Colgate Mens Hockey
The Colgate ice hockey team received contributions from all over the line chart Sunday night as the Raiders posted a 2-0 shutout over Rensselaer to advance to the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
Colgate will face No. 10/9 Clarkson in a best-ofthree quarterfinals series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. at Cheel Arena.
Sophomore goaltender Colton Point (North Bay, Ontario) tied the program record for shutouts in a single season with his sixth of the year. Point tied the record held by Mark Dekanich ‘08 in 2007-08 and Charlie Finn ‘17 in 2014-15.
Colgate Womens Hockey
No. 4 Colgate fell to No. 2 Clarkson 3-0 in a battle of heavyweights for the ECAC Hockey Championship Sunday afternoon at Cheel Arena. This marks the farthest postseason advancement for the Raiders in program history.
Jessie Eldridge, who earlier Sunday was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for February, earned a spot on the alltournament team. Eldridge scored the gamewinning goal against Cornell in the semifinal with just one second remaining. This is first time in over a year that the Raider were held scoreless. The last time they were shut out was Feb. 25, 2017, against Cornell.
Colgate Mens Basketball
The Colgate basketball team broke at 48-48 tie with a 14-7 game-closing run to punch its ticket to Wednesday night’s Patriot League Championship game with a 62-55 win over Holy Cross in the Patriot League Semifinals Sunday afternoon at Cotterell Court.
The Raiders set a program record with their 19th win of the season and advance to the Patriot League Championship game for the first time since 2008. Colgate also ties a program record with its 13th home win of the season.
