The following programs will be held this week at Oneida Public Library:

Monday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon, Tax Help for Seniors. IRS certified volunteers under the auspices of Cornell Cooperativ­e Extension will provide free tax help and electronic filing to seniors on a first come, first served basis. Seniors should bring their pertinent tax documents and last year’s return with them. Tax Help continues Monday and Wednesday mornings through April 16.

March 12 at 1 p.m., Monday Movie Matinee with “Goodbye Christophe­r Robin.” On the second and fourth Monday of this month, enjoy watching the latest release of a five-star film on DVD, while sipping tea or coffee and tasting some light confection­s. For March 12 the 2017 British film “Goodbye Christophe­r Robin” dramatical­ly presents the story of A. A. Milne, author of the Winnie the Pooh books, and his family. It features Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie and Kelly MacDonald.

Wednesday, March 14, Kids’ Book Club, 6 p.m. Young readers in grades 2-5 can come to the OPL to discuss books with Megan Gillander and play games. March’s selection is Kate DiCamillo’s “Because of Winn Dixie.” Parents can sign their children up at the circulatio­n desk and order copies of the book.

Thursday, March 15 at 2 p.m., Book Talk: Norm Dann on Peter Smith. Historian Dr. Norman Dann will

present his new biography, “Peter Smith of Peterboro: Furs, Land and Anguish.” Peter, father of Gerrit Smith, created the family’s fabulous wealth through fur trading and land speculatio­n, but ended up an eccentric, disturbed old man. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing.

Movies in March

Every Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m., Canastota Public Library shows a recently released movie in the Carnegie Room on the second floor. All movies are shown free. The following movies are scheduled for March:

March 13: “Paris Can Wait,” rated PG-13. Diane Lane stars as the wife of a successful yet overly busy producer. The movie also stars Arnaud Viard and Alec Baldwin.

March 20: “Beatriz at Dinner,” rated R. This comedy-drama starring Salma Hayek, John Lithgow and Connie Button follows a holistic medicine practition­er as she attends the dinner party of a client.

March 27: “King Arthur, Legend of the Sword,” rated PG-13. This epic fantasy film inspired by Arthurian legends stars Charlie Hunnan, Astrid Berges-Frisbey and Jude Law.

The Canastota Public Library is located at 102 W. Center St. in Canastota. The library has been providing services to the local community since 1896.

Movie at Caz Library

Cazenovia Public Library will present a free screening of “Ferdinand” on Wednesday, March 14 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. The animated comedy-adventure film is based on Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson’s children’s book, “The Story of Ferdinand.”

Set in Spain, this heartwarmi­ng tale follows Ferdinand, a giant bull with an even bigger heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and taken from home. With the help of his friends, Ferdinand must find a way to escape before he is forced into the ring to face an undefeated bullfighte­r. The film is rated PG and runs 108 minutes. Free popcorn is provided. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Cazenovia Public Library.

Coffee with Friends

On Wednesday, March 14 from 10-11 a.m. the Chittenang­o Landing Canal Boat Museum will host its monthly Coffee with Friends. New and current volunteers and community members are encouraged to come in, reconnect and learn about opportunit­ies available at the museum.

Home & Garden Show

The Central New York Home & Garden Show will be held at the New York State Fairground­s in Syracuse Thursday through Sunday, March 15-18.

This is one of the largest events of its kind in the northeast with more than 400 exhibitors showcasing the best and most innovative trends in home renovation­s, remodeling and landscapin­g. Tickets are $10.

Young Naturalist talk

Cazenovia Public Library will partner with the Izaak Walton League to present the Young Naturalist­s series for children ages 7 and older. The hands-on and engaging programs are designed to get young people interested in science and connected to conservati­on and outdoor recreation. Sessions are held in the Community Room on the third Thursday of each month. The next installmen­t, titled “River Explorers,” will be held on March 15 at 4:30 p.m.

The Izaak Walton League was founded in 1922 by 54 avid anglers dedicated to conserving America for future generation­s. The environmen­tal organizati­on is named after Izaak Walton, the 17th century author of “The Complete Angler” — a classic book about the art and spirit of fishing. The league is one of the first conservati­on organizati­ons to set forth an aggressive course of action to defend wild America by changing public policy.

In “River Engineers,” participan­ts will learn about keystone species such as the beaver and have the chance to become river engineers themselves. Please bring a shoebox if available. Registrati­on is requested.

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public.

Free movie

Cazenovia Public Library will present two free screenings of the Oscar-winning movie, “The Shape of Water” on Friday, March 16 at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. Set in Baltimore in 1962, this otherworld­ly fairy tale follows Elisa, a mute custodian at a high-security government laboratory. The lonely woman’s life is changed forever when she discovers a mysterious scaled creature in a water tank.

At Sullivan Free Library in Chittenang­o, the 1 p.m. movie on March 14 is “The Greatest Showman,” rated PG and running 105 minutes. Hugh Jackman, Zack Ephron and Michelle Williams star in this musical about P.T. Barnum and the rise of his circus. Admission and popcorn are free; viewers can bring their own snacks and beverages.

St. Patrick’s Dinner

Bridgeport Food Pantry’s annual St. Patrick’s Dinner & Luck O’ the Irish Raffle Extravagan­za will be held Saturday, March 17 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Center, 7820 Route 298 in Bridgeport beginning at 4 p.m.

The menu includes corned beef, mac ‘n cheese, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, onions, bread and butter, beverage and dessert. Eat in or take out. Adults $12, seniors and children 6-12, $10, children 5 and younger, free.

There will be bake sales, raffles, a DJ and lots of fun.
