Children’s Easter basket fundraiser Sunday

The Upstate Drum & Bugle Corps will hold the event at Nothin’ Fancy Banquet Hall from 2-5p.m.

ONEIDA » Upstate Independen­t Drum and Bugle Corps began its 2018 parade season on March 17 at the 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Syracuse.

The Corps has been rehearsing once or twice amonth since November and took to the parade route for the first time on the windy, chilly Salina Street Parade Route before thousands of spectators. The elements did not stop UIDBC from playing those horns, drums and spinning the air blades and flags with a spirited confidence.

For the first time this year, the 2017 New York State American Legion Convention Champion, Upstate Independen­t Drum and Bugle Corps returned to its Oneida home base with a first place finish in the Non-High School Division of the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Upstate Independen­t Drumand Bugle Corps is always accepting new members, ages 10 and older. The group is currently looking for trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone and tuba players of any age, as well as Drum Line and Color Guard members of any age. Upstate Independen­t Drumand Bugle Corps provides all instrument­s and equipment. The Corps has full families involved and never charges mandatory membership fees.

This Sunday, March 25, Upstate Independen­t Drum and Bugle Corps is hosting a fundraiser at the Nothin’ Fancy Banquet Hall, 10 Ruth St., Vernon, from 2-5 p.m. It is the second annual Kids Easter Basket/Meat Raffle event. There is no admission fee. All raffle tickets are $1 each, seven for $5 or 15 for $10. There are at least 30 Easter baskets, along with a boys and a girls bike. The meats being raffled off are four Easter hams, two pork loins, two lots of restaurant grade chicken ten- ders and two lots of steaks with shrimp.

Anyone interested in becoming a member is en- couraged attend the event andmeet organizati­on leaders.
