Holy Week services

The following is a brief list of Holy Week services in the area.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 341 Main St., Oneida

Sunday, March 25, 9:30 a.m.: Palm Sunday, Passion Sunday. This service begins with the procession from the parish hall into the church commemorat­ing Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Tuesday, March 27, 7 p.m.: Everyone’s Way of the Cross. This service is a powerful experience of relating Christ’s suffering with our own, as we retrace his steps and witness on that fateful Friday.

Wednesday, March 28, 5:30 p.m.: An Evening with the Harriffs (Pastors Jim and Suzi, who recently returned from a ministry trip to Rwanda.

Thursday, March 29, 7 p.m.: Maundy Thursday. A solemn service of Holy Communion.

Friday, March 30, noon: Oneida Area Community Good Friday Service at St. John’s, rememberin­g the events at Calvary with scripture, song, liturgical dance, and ending with the Cross Walk, a procession to the park.

Friday, March 30, 7 p.m.: Stations of the Cross in St. John’s Church, an enduring liturgy rememberin­g Jesus’ bearing his cross, and ours, toward crucifixio­n.

Saturday, March 31, 7 p.m.: The Great Vigil of Easter, a dramatic service, including the first proclamati­on of Easter as light confounds the darkness.

Sunday, April 1, 9:30 a.m., Easter Sunday Morning, the celebratio­n of the empty tomb, Jesus’ Resurrecti­on, and the beginning of the 50 days of the Easter season.

Palm Sunday Weekend: Saturday, March 24, 4 p.m. at St. Joseph’s, 5:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s

Sunday, March 25, 8:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s

Holy Thursday: March 29, 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s

Good Friday: March 30, 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s

Stations of the Cross: March 30, 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s

Holy Saturday: March 31, 8 p.m. at St. Joseph’s

Easter Sunday, April 1: 8:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s

Three Voices Presbyteri­an Congregati­on

The Three Voices Presbyteri­an Congregati­on will begin Holy Week with a Palm Sunday Service at 10 a.m. on March 25 at Cochran Memorial Presbyteri­an Church in Oneida Castle .

Holy Thursday services will begin at 6 p.m. on March 29 at the First Presbyteri­an Church of Verona. Holy Thursday services commemorat­e the Passover meal, which Jesus Christ celebrated with his disciples on the night before his crucifixio­n.

Easter services will be held at 10 a.m. on April 1 at the First Presbyteri­an Church of Verona.

The public is welcome to attend these services. Both Cochran Memorial Presbyteri­an Church and the First Presbyteri­an Church of Verona are accessible to those with physical limitation­s.

First Presbyteri­an Church of Oneida

First Presby ter ian Church of Oneida will hold a Palm Sunday service on March 25 at 10 a.m. A Maundy Thursday service will be held March 29 at 7 p.m. The Easter service on Sunday, April 1 at 10 a.m. will feature special music.

Augusta Presbyteri­an Church, Route 26, Oriskany Falls

Augusta Presbyteri­an Church will celebrate Palm Sunday at 10 a.m. on March 25.

The church will hold its traditiona­l Maundy Thursday service on March 29 at 6 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to bring a dish to pass.

Augusta Presbyteri­an will hold its Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 1 the church will hold its annual Sunrise Service at the Vernon Center Park at 7 a.m. All are welcome. The traditiona­l Easter service will be held at 10 a.m.

Clockville United Methodist Church

Clockville United Methodist Church will hold a Seder service on Maundy Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. presented by Ed Link. There will be refreshmen­ts after the service. All are welcome.

Grace Lutheran Church, 3965 Carter Road, Canastota

Palm Sunday worship on March 25 at 10 a.m. with Holy Communion, followed by coffee hour and fellowship.

Maundy Thursday worship service on March 29 at 7 p.m. with Holy Communion.

Good Friday worship service, March 30 at 7 p.m.

59th annual Easter Sunrise Service on April 1 at 6:30 a.m. on the shores of Oneida Lake in the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park parking lot.

Easter Day Resurrecti­on Service on April 1 at 10 a.m. with Holy Communion followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for the children, coffee and donuts.

Christ Church United Methodist, 417 Park St., Sherrill

Sunday, March 25: Men’s Palm Sunday Communion Breakfast with service at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast. The regular worship service at 10:30 a.m. will celebrate the Palms and Passion of Jesus.

Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m., Maundy Thursday service of the Last Supper.

Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m., the church choir will present its Lenten/Easter Cantata.

Easter Sunday, April 1, 10:30 a.m. worship.
