4 nabbed in meth bust
SMITHFIELD, N.Y. » Amedical call lead to a methamphetamine bust Friday in the town of Smithfield.
Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators responded to 5370 Peterboro Road in the Town of Smithfield to assist medical personnel with a report of a man who was bleeding. Shortly after arrival, investigators say they observed items used to manufacture methamphetamine and a methamphetamine lab.
The Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team searched the premises and located finished methamphetamine products and several other items that were used to manufacture the methamphetamine.
Four people were charged with third- degree manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class D felony; fifth-degree conspiracy, a Class A misdemeanor; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor.

•Mark J. Morey Jr., 34, of 6460 Route 5, Vernon
•Harold F. Ortman Jr., 35, of 5370 Peterboro Road, Oneida
•Connie A. Thurston, 37, of 5370 Peterboro Road, Oneida
All subjects were arraigned at the Town of Smithfield Court. Ciani, Morey and Or tman were all held at Madison County Jail. Thurston was released on her own recognizance. All subjects are scheduled to appear at court at a later date to answer the charges.
