Vote for Democrats this November

-

The Hatch ACT; aka, An Act to Prevent Pernicious Political Activities; aka, electioneering. The purpose of this legislation is to ensure that government programs are administered in a nonpartisan fashion and bars government employees from engaging in partisan political activities. It effectively enforces political neutrality by government employees, i.e. those whose salaries are paid by the tax payer. That’s you and me, folks.

The US Office of Special Counsel (not to be confused with the Robert Mueller investigation) is an independent federal agency which is entrusted to provide oversight. It is one of the many safeguards in our democracy.

The OSC has found Kellyanne Conway, whose title is Counselor to the President, in violation on two separate occasions. She plugged Ivanka’s products on national TV and publicly supported a political candidate in a recent election.

Instead of taking disciplinary action or even responsibility for the transgressions, the White House responded with a heartfelt MEH.

As we watch the slow erosion of some of our most treasured democratic principles and the selling of the Executive Branch of our government to the highest bidder, we can only wonder how our fragile government will emerge when this Presidency is over.

There truly is only one thing we can do. We must vote in this November’s election and we must vote a solid Democratic ticket. The Republican Party, the party of Trump and his ilk, cannot be trusted to do the right thing. This is just one example. Judy Jerome, New Hartford
