MESSENGERS BAY >> Charles C. “Charlie” Messinger, 65, of 2828 State Route 31, Canastota ( Messengers Bay), passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 4, 1952, in Canastota, a son of Edway and Virginia (Roberts) Messinger. Charlie lived in the Messengers Bay most of his life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1970, and was a member of FFA. He later attended Morrisvill­e College. Charlie had, also, lived in Whitelaw for several years. He owned and operated Flat Tire Service, a tire repair and sales business for many years, serving farming and constructi­on equipment in the area, and had previously worked for Bob’s Tire Service in Oneida for many years. Charlie enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Surviving are: one brother, Carl Messinger of Madison; three sisters, Jean Messinger of Missouri, June Worthley of Canastota, and Audrey Lowe of Constantia; a special friend, Tammie Alter; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, greatnephe­ws, and cousins. Charlie was pre-deceased by his parents, Edway and Virginia Messinger; a brother, Cecil Messinger; and two sisters, Pearl Ina Messinger, and Fern A. Messinger. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. Pastor Clarence Hafelin of Grace Baptist Church, Oriskany Falls, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In his memory, contributi­ons may be made toward a tire headstone, with envelopes available at the funeral home. J.
