Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol will run for office again in November.

YORKVILLE, N.Y. » Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol will seek re- election as Oneida County sheriff.

“It has been an honor to serve as your sheriff – a responsibility I never take for granted and wish to resume,” Maciol said to supporters at Club Monarch in Yorkville on Tuesday. “I remain driven to serve and protect our county and the many communities within it to the best of my abilities.”

Since assuming office, Maciol has:

•Operated the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office under budget for seven consecutive fiscal years. In his first year of office, he saved taxpayers $3 million.

•Made the safety of students a top priority. Today, there are more Special Patrol Officers and School Resource Officers in schools, countywide, than ever.

•Attacked the heroin epidemic by equipping Sheriff’s Deputies with NARCAN – a medication that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose – providing treatment programs to in- carcerated persons, offering educational lessons about the dangers of drug use in schools and allowing for the safe disposal of prescription medicines and other drugs through the use of drug disposal receptacles.

•Implemented the use of body cameras for the entire law enforcement division and a portion of the corrections division, increasing transparency and building public trust. The ultimate goal is to equip every uniformed member of the Oneida
