Stockbridge Valley FFA members at the Leadership Development Events compete at the district level.

Sr. High FFA co- reporter and Austin Nolley Sr. High FFA co-reporter MUNNSVILLE » On March 4, the Stockbridge Valley FFA sent several members to compete in Leadership Development Events (LDE) at the District level and on March 17 they competed at the Sub-States level.

The members who went were Austin Nolley, Madison Nolley, Alex Smith, Ethan Smith, Abby Smith, Adrienne Byron, Logan Godaire, Myah LaFave, Rebecca Ax, Michael Wagner to Districts and SubStates and Josh Wagner and Kaleb Jones attended Districts. These members competed in a variety of dif ferent competitions like People in Ag, where students put together a poster board about a job related to agriculture, to Employment Skill, where students are judged on the real life skill of interviewing for a job.

Several SVCS members did very well in their competitions, with some bringing home first place. The Jr. Creed is a competition where students are asked to memorize the FFA Creed, a five paragraph speech that holds the beliefs of the FFA and then answer three questions pertaining to the creed. Austin Nolley took first place with Ethan Smith coming in third and Myah LaFave coming in sixth at Districts. At Sub- States, Austin Nolley placed first and Ethan Smith placed third.

The Jr. Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team brought home first place at Districts and second at SubStates. This competition is a competition where seven members complete an FFA meeting with opening and closing ceremonies and are required to use parliamentary procedure to handle motions that would come before a meeting. The members who make up the team are Austin Nolley, Ethan Smith, Alex Smith, Abby Smith, Logan Godaire, Adrienne Byron and Rebecca Ax.

Rebecca Ax also competed in Senior Prepared, placing fourth at Districts and fourth at Sub-States. Adrienne Byron also competed in this competition. This competition is a public speaking competition where students prepare a speech on a topic they think is important in agriculture and then present it in front of three judges who then ask questions about the speech.

Myah LaFave and Ethan Smith competed in Jr. Extemporaneous Speaking. Ethan Smith brought home fourth at districts and Myah LaFave brought home first at Districts and third at Sub-states. Logan Godaire competed in Sr. Extemporaneous Speaking, placing first at Districts and also competing at Sub-States. The Extemporaneous Speaking competition where students have 30 minutes to write a speech about a topic they picked randomly and then they present the speech to the judges.

Madison Nolley and Alex Smith competed in Jr. People in Ag. Madison Nolley won first in Districts and second at SubStates. Alex Smith placed eighth at Districts. People in Ag like I said earlier is a competition where students prepare a poster board with agricultural related careers on it and then they prepare and present a speech to three judges.

Josh Wagner, Kaleb Jones and Michael Wagner all competed in Job Interview. Josh Wagner placed ninth and Michael Wagner placed first at Districts, Michael also competed at Sub-States. Congratulations to all our contestants and good luck to Austin Nolley in Jr. Creed, Madison Nolley in Jr. People in Ag and the Jr. Conduct of Chapter Meeting who qualified to compete at the NY FFA State Convention in May.
