Sunday Results Morrisville State Women’s Lacrosse
The top seeded Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team defended their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title Sunday afternoon, as they handed second seed Medaille College a 21-10 loss on Drake Field in Morrisville, capturing a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Morrisville State (12-7) will learn their championship tournament destination tonight (Sunday) during theNCAA Division III selection show scheduled to air at 10 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.
Senior Celia Abbott (Shortsville, N.Y.) led all scorers on the day, netting a total six goals and assisting two others, and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award after collecting a tourney total nine goals and five assists for 14 points.
Gianna Branca (Camillus, N.Y.), who was face guarded nearly the entire contest, added four goals and an assist, while Jillian Hughes (Brookfield, N.Y.) collected three scores.
Chelsea McNeal (Ithaca, N.Y.), Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) and Makenzi Santini (Fairport, N.Y.) each added two, along with Melissa Lucciola (Monroe, N.Y.) to round out Mustang scoring.
Marissa Woodard (Unadilla, N.Y.) collected her 11th victory between the pipes on the season, turning away a game total nine that included three down the stretch to secure the win and title for the hosts.
Saturday Results Morrisville State Men’s Lacrosse
The Morrisville State College men’s lacrosse team defended their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title for a fourth consecutive time Saturday, as they held on to edge second seeded Bryn Athyn College by a final score of 11-10 on Drake Field in Morrisville.
Sophomore Chris Dovi (Cortland, N.Y.) led all scorers on the
day with a season high five goals, earning tournament Most Valuable Player honors, collecting a tournament to- tal eight goals and one assist across two games.
Brad Biggs (Tully, N.Y.) added two scores and assisted another two for four points, to go along with Eric Fisher’s (Nutley, N.J.) two tallies.
Joe Piedigrossi (Cortland, N.Y.) and NickGeswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) each added one; Piedigrossi adding an assist.
Senior Dan Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) posted the win betweenthepipesbehindhis 12 save performance, seven that came in the second half of action.
