TARPON SPRINGS, FLA. >> Paul B. Doornbos, 79, of Tarpon Springs, Fla. formerly of Verona, N.Y. passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 8, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Hatch; his children Trina and Todd ( Sandra); grandchild­ren Amber ( Nick) and Justin; nieces Kim (Dennis), Jodi; nephews Brad, Jeff (Kim); great-nephews Sam, Nicholas (Jerrica); and great-greats Lyla and Leo Burrell; brother-inlaw David Hartwell; step family Marilyn (Frank) Buck; many cousins and fun friends. Paul was born in Fulton, N.Y. to Pauline Kellogg and Bernard Doornbos. He graduated from Fulton High School (1956), Paul Smith’s College of Forestry (1958), and Delhi Ag & Tech (1965). He proudly served in the United States Navy (19591963) and was a Profession­al Land Surveyor until his retirement in 2004 when he and Carol relocated to Tarpon Springs. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Tarpon Springs, Fla. and a former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Verona, N.Y. Paul was an avid bowler and loved a good time with family and friends. He also had a love for all fur babies. Paul was predecease­d by his parents, step-mother Reatha, his sister Kitty, his nephew Paul Scott, his father and mother-in-law Burrell and Viola Hatch and his sister-in-law Phyllis Hartwell. Paul will be missed dearly. His sense of humor and beautiful smile will always be remembered. Memorials in his memory may be given to your favorite pet shelter or St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Tarpon Springs, Fla. or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Verona, N.Y. Arrangemen­ts will be made at the convenienc­e of the family.
