Josh Wagner pitched six innings, striking out nine while allowing two earned runs for the win. Longtime Cougar backstop Beau Burke ditched his catcher’s mask for an inning of relief on the mound to close it out for the Cougars. At the plate, Burke reached base four times courtesy of a hit, an error, and getting plunked by two pitches. Each time he reached base, Burke scored a run. Wagner went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored andthreeRBI. Jared Couture also went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. ONEIDA22, CAZENOVIA4 » Oneida hit early and often to put away Cazeovia on Thursday. Ryan Kramer’s Oneida side tagged the Lakers for 12 runs in the first two innings before coasting to a 22-4 win. Henry Froass finished the evening 2-for-4 from the plate with three RBi, and Ryan Chevier batted 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for Oneida in the win.

Anna Rinaldo earned the win for S-E in a complete game effort, while Hayley Patane took the loss for Canastota. Emily Smith paced the Canastota bats with a 3-for-3 performance that included a pair of doubles and an RBI.

» VVS needed extra innings to take down Utica Proctor at Murnane Field on Tuesday. Knotted up at 4-4 entering the top of the eighth inning, the Red Devils plated four backbreaking runs before clos- ing out the bottom of the eighth for the 8-4 win. As usual, Andrew Roden played a big role in VVS’ success, fanning 11 Proctor hitters across five innings while yielding four earned runs. At the plate, Roden went 3-for-4 with two runs, two double and an RBI. Blake VanDreason made a strong appearance on the mound in relief for Chad Hodkinson’s side, striking out six batters in three innings and giving up just two hits. Nate Palmer added two runs, two walks, a stolen base and an RBI in the win for VVS.

STOCKBRIDGEVALLEY16, MCGRAW1 » Seventh grader Abby Reed did not allow a hit in her first varsity action in the pitching circle for Stockbridge, taking over after starter Kelly Greene worked three innings of one-run ball in a 16-1 landslide over McGraw. In total, the pitching duo struck out fifteen McGraw batters. Teammate Markalynn Eaton went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Stockbridge’s Jill Jacobs finished 3-of-5 with two runs scored and three RBI, and Madeline Cross went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
