Relay for Life Saturday

ONEIDA, N.Y. » On June 2, more than 300 participants will join together at the annual Relay For Life of Madison County to help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle.

The event starts at 4 p.m. at Vets Field in Oneida. The community is invited to attend and help us celebrate and honor local cancer survivors and remember those lost.

“Our teams have worked very hard to raise money this Relay season and to put together an event that the whole family will enjoy,” says American Cancer Society Community Development Manager Melanie Francis. “Relay is our chance to celebrate our efforts and invite the community to join us.”

This year’s event will feature music by Mike & Jake and Slow Train, as well as Irish Dancers, costume contests, raffles, games, bounce houses, chicken BBQ, and fireworks to close out the night.

Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, fromproviding empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.

Cancer survivor Cam- dyn Cross and the family of Jessica Froelick will talk about how vital the American Cancer Society services are.

Founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Washington in 1985, the Relay For Life movement unites commu- nities across the globe to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the event can last up to 24 hours and empowers communities to take a stand against cancer.
