Canastota Library movies

Beginning this June, Canastota Public Library will show a free movie each Tuesday at 1 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. Here are the following to be shown:

June 12, “Winchester,” rated PG-13, featuring Helen Mirren in the story of the Winchester heiress. June 19, “The Commuter,” rated PG-13. Insurance salesman Michael, played by Liam Neeson, is on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on the train before the last stop.

June 26, Chris Helmsworth, Michael Shannon and Michael Pena star in “12 Strong,” rated R, the extraordin­ary story of a band of U.S. soldiers who rode

Free movie

The Wednesday Movie Matinee at Sullivan Free Library on June 13 will be “Phantom Thread,” 2018, rated R and running 130 minutes. The drama, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Vicki Krieps, is about a dressmaker and his young muse in 1950s London. Admission and popcorn are free. Viewers are welcome to bring their own beverage and snack.

Blood drive

The American Red Cross Bloodmobil­e will be at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Center, Routes 298 and 31 in Bridgeport, on Friday, June 15 from 2-7 p.m.

Family Fun Day

On Saturday, June 16 from 1-5 p.m. The Haven at Skanda, 4000 Mosley Road, Cazenovia is planning a Family Fun Day. Meet Skanda’s horses, goats, mini donkeys and other animals. There will be an Open Hand Theatre mask-making workshop, face painting, hay rides, sack races and more.

Admission is $15 for families and $10 for individual­s. Proceeds support Skanda’s rescued and endangered animals.

The Cazenovia Farmers Market will be open on Saturday, June 16 at Memorial Park, Albany Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Boat Float

Strawberry Festival

Christ Church United Methodist, 417 Park St., Sherrill will hold a Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 16 from 4-7 p.m. Strawberry shortcake will be served for $5.

Also available will be pulled pork, Italian sausage, hamburgers, hot dogs and potato salad. Drinks are free.

Kids Day Out

Kids’ Day Out at the Mansion House will be held Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17 at 170 Kenwood Ave. Families are invited to become investigat­ors, using clues to find their way through the historic mansion. The Mansion House will provide the scavenger hunt informatio­n, and families can pick the clue sheet and complete the challenge anytime during busi- ness hours. Father’s Day Brunch

Sherrill American Legion Post 230 will serve a Father’s Day Brunch on Sunday, June 17 at the post home.

A full all-you-can-eat brunch will be served from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for children 5-12 and free for ages 4 and younger.

Forum on opioids

Local experts in law-enforcemen­t, health, addiction, rehabilita­tion and recovery will gather at Oneida Public Library on Tuesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. for a Public Forum on Opioids.

Panelists include Eric Faisst, Madison County Department of Health; Susan L. Jenkins, BRiDGES/ Madison County Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse; Dennis K. McDermott, Madison County Court judge, Family Court judge and head of the Madison County Family Treatment Program; Ofrona Reid, M.D., Oneida Healthcare’s vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer; James Strail, program director at Liberty Resources’ Maxwell House, Oneida; and Paul Thompson, Oneida City Chief of Police.

Mansion House book talk

Oneida Community Mansion House will host a Book Talk with Anthony Wonderley, author of “Oneida Utopia: A Com- munity Searching for Human Happiness & Prosperity” on Thursday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Mansion House, 170 Kenwood Ave., Oneida. Wonderley offers a fresh look at the origins and legacy of the Oneida Community in his new book, arguing that the commune and company together comprise a century-long narrative of economic success, innovative thinking, and abiding concern for the welfare of others. Traveling exhibit

New Woodstock Free Library is hosting a Traveling Exhibit sponsored by Empire State Library Network and the Digital Public Library of America titled “200 Years on the Erie Canal” through June 30.

In conjunctio­n with the exhibit, on Monday, June 25 at 7 p.m. Sam Gordon, director for Planning and Zoning for the Town of Dewitt will share “Elevating Erie,” a project to re-envision Erie Boulevard set to be completed by 2020 featuring a biking and walking trail in the median of Erie Boulevard.

Summer activities

The Town of Sullivan Parks & Recreation will sponsor Jr. Power Basketball on Monday, June 25 through June 28 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Chittenang­o High School gym for children entering grades 2-4.

Kids’ Kickball/Dodgeball will be held Wednesday, June 27 through July 25 from 6-7:30 p.m., rotating between Chapman Park and Sullivan. (There will be no program on July 4.) This is a registrati­on program.
