Veterans made final rites dignified, respectful

-

Commander Ben Barrett and members of the Lloyd V. Evans Post 375 in Hamilton wish to publicly acknowledge and thank the Commanders and members of American Legion Posts 54, 88, 140, 236, and 650 for stepping forward to answer our plea for Legionnaires to participate in rendering final military honors for two veterans who recently passed away.

The veterans from Munnsville, Cazenovia, Canastota, Earlville, and Long Lake who helped form the military Honor Guard at these services provided a dignified and respectful farewell to two former sailors. Their participation is deeply appreciated by the officers of Post 375 and the families and friends of the deceased. We of Post 375 were unable to provide the number of personnel required for a dignified farewell due to prior job commitments and ill health.

We also thank the personnel of the Naval Reserve who traveled from Ithaca, Rochester, and Oneonta to participate in these services and the officers of the Madison County American Legion who helped disseminate and coordinate our request for assistance. speaks volumes about Brindisi’s character. Last time I checked, being an Assemblyman means you are a public servant. If you take a quick look at Brindisi’s voting record, it is clear the only opinion he cares about is Gov. Cuomo’s.

Congresswomen Tenney does care about public opinion. In 2016 when NY 22 voted for President Donald Trump by 16 percent over his opponent, Tenney was given the best public opinion poll possible. Her district likes President Trump, and Congresswoman Tenney has taken that and ran with it, working with the President to pass a multitude of laws. She has embraced Trump’s plans to cut taxes and bring jobs back to America and our District. Congresswomen Tenney voted to fix our broken healthcare system and helped repeal the individual mandate which was plaguing Upstate New Yorkers.

As an Assemblywoman, Tenney repeatedly stood up to Cuomo and even was one of the first to call for corrupt politician Sheldon Silver’s resignation. Claudia has repeatedly proven that public opinion is very important to her. ComeNovember, public opinion will derail Brindisi and Congresswomen Tenney will return to Washington to continue fighting for NY’s 22nd Congressional District.

Community madeWilberDuck Mile a success

The United Way of Greater Oneida would like to thank the members of our community and race participants from across Central NewYork for coming out to support the 19th annual Wilber-Duck Mile. Thank you to everyone who ran, walked, came out to watch or contributed to the canned food drive for The Salvation Army. We’d also like to thank the corporate sponsors and donors whose contributions help to make this event a success.

Most importantly, we’d like to express our gratitude to Frank Duck and Biff Wilber, who through their dedication and support to our local community over the last 19 years of this event tradition, have raised nearly $40,000 to benefit community groups, including The United Way of Greater Oneida. The need in our community is greater than ever and the generosity of our local businesses and residents is critical in helping support those organizations who strive to meet those needs.
