Both Sherrill teams’ records are at .500following Sunday’s games with Alex Kipp hitting a walk-off homerun to help lift the Sherrill Post to victory and the Silversmiths falling short to the Cortland Crush.

SHERRILL POST 9, ILION POST7 » For the second time in less than a week, Sherrill Post 230 enjoyed some free baseball, taking Ilion Post into extras at Noyes Park on Sunday.
After a tough loss to Smith in a 9-inning battle on Tuesday, Barry VanDreason’s Post 230 side walked off a winner in the bottom of the eighth courtesy of Alex Kipp’s gamewinning hit.
Kipp belted a homer and a double to go with five RBI to lead Sherrill Post at the plate. TJ Horodnick and Zach Nell also sent shots over the outfield fence as Sherrill recorded three home runs in the contest. Tyler Rotach went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Blake Van Dreason added a triple on 2-for-4 hitting.
AJ Farina started on the hill for Post 230, tossing three innings of five-run (three earned) ball while scattering eight hits. Logan McClelland followed with two innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits to go with three strikeouts. Jorden Barlow, who typically shows off his arm from behind the plate, took the mound for the final three innings of play, striking out four while giving up one run on four hits.

CORTLAND8, SHERRILL 6 » The Sherrill Silversmiths took a 5-0 lead after three innings of action against Cortland on Sunday, but the Crush went on to outscore the Silversmiths 8-1 through the final six frames of play to take the contest 8-6.
Tyler McKeon paced the Crunch at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a double.
Chris Turco led the Silversmiths with a double and ahome run, his sixth homer on the season, on 3-for-5 hitting in the defeat.
After Sherrill knocked around Crush starter Logan Persse, Michael Doherty came on in relief and quieted the vistors’ bats, pitching two innings of one-run ball to earn the win. Maxwell Tannebaum-earned the save for Cortland.
Jake Vennaro took the loss for the Silversmiths after entering the game in relief in the bottom of the sixth inning.
