CTE program graduates
VERNON, N.Y. » Madison-Oneida BOCES awarded 340 certificates this year to area seniors who completed 19 one-year and two-year CTE programs.
Students from across the region walked across the stage during three evening ceremonies, congratulated by their program teachers and CTE administrators. MOBOCES Board members Sally Sherwood, Suzanne Carvelli and Patrick Baron delivered remarks during the ceremonies.
District Superintendent Jackie Starks gave the keynote address, telling students how proud she is that 2/3 of this year’s class passed rigorous national industry assessments in their field of study, something that will set them apart from other high school graduates.
“Dream big, follow your passions and consider the challenges you face as opportunities,” she said.
This year’s student speakers were: Elizabeth Hallenbeck, Early Childhood Education, Rome; Harry Jones, Engineering Science, Oneida; and Rose Pitman, New Visions Professions, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.
Students who led the Pledge of Allegiance: Jasmine Coston, Equine and Animal Science, Oneida; Raven Richardson, Health Related Careers, Camden; and Cody Hughes, Criminal Justice, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.
