Sidewalk Sale set for July 6-7

Concert will benefit church missions

CANASTOTA » United Church of Canastota, 144 Center St., will present Music & More for Missions on Sunday, July 8 featuring a free performanc­e by the Canastota Community Band. The event will be held outside, weather permitting. Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs. The concert starts at 3 p.m. Food will be available from 2-4:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the church’s missions, including the Nicaragua Medical Mission, Loaves & Fishes Hospitalit­y Center, Heifer Internatio­nal, Operation Christmas Child and UMC missions.

Chicken barbecue served July 14

CANASTOTA » The United Church of Canastota, 144 Center St., will host a drive-thru chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 14 starting at 11 a.m. The menu includes a half chicken, salt potatoes, beans, coleslaw, roll and dessert for $10, or $9 with the donation of a non-perishable food item.

Talent show set for July 7

SHERRILL » The Youth Group at Christ Church United Methodist will hold a Mid-Summer Night’s Talent Show on Saturday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at the church, 417 Park St.

Community members are invited to participat­e; musicians, poets, magicians, dancers, jugglers are welcome. Beverages and homemade desserts will be served. A free will offering will be accepted to benefit the Youth Group’s trip to the United Kingdom this summer. Summer concert series begins July 8

ONEIDA » Oneida’s United Methodist Churches will sponsor a Summer Concert Series beginning Sun- day, July 8 at 10 a.m. with Light of the World Ballet at First United Methodist Church, corner of Main and Grove streets.

Light of the World is a profession­al ballet company from Syracuse which performs nationally and internatio­nally.

Other concerts scheduled are:

July 15, Classical Music featuring violinist Liz Friedel of Opus Black String Quartet, harpist Bambi Niles, and classical organ and piano, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 551 Sayles St.

July 22, Bluegrass Gospel with His Master’s Hand and Mike Tebo, at the pavilion at St. Paul’s UMC. There will be a free coffee bar and lemonade stand.

July 29, Praise, featuring the Praise Band and Choir from Oneida’s Methodist Churches, in the sanctuary at First Church.

Friendship Inn open each Thursday

MORRISVILL­E » Friendship Inn at St. Joan of Arc Church offers a free weekly meal to the Morrisvill­e community every Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. Non-denominati­onal and open to all, regardless of financial need, Friendship Inn draws on a small army of vol- unteers who fulfill numerous tasks, from setup, cooking, serving, to clean-up. Volunteers are always needed. Donations are welcome as well to supplement food offerings and to purchase equipment and supplies. Clothing donations accepted

ONEIDA » St. John’s Episcopal Church, 341 Main St., has been chosen by St. Pauly Textile, Inc. as a repository for used clothing. St. Pauly’s mission is to provide wearable clothing to people who need it, both in the United States and Third World countries. Items that can be collected include clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, blankets, curtains and stuffed toys. No rags or fabric scraps, pillows, toys or household goods are accepted. Donations are not cut up or shredded. Items should be placed in plastic bags (no larger than 13 gal. size) and placed in the chute of the shed located on St. John’s driveway. Donations are acceptable any time of the day or night. This mission has provided more than 30 million garments to people all over the world who are in need.
