County fair kicks off Thursday
BROOKFIELD, N.Y. » Gates open at the 2018 Madison County Fair on Thursday, July 12 at 10 a.m.
Thursday’s highlights include the Miss & Mister Madison County competition at 3 p.m., the Firemen’s Parade at 6 p.m., andMadison County Fair’s premiere TeamDemolition Derby at 7 p.m.
On Friday, July 13, senior citizens are admitted at no charge. Friday’s events include the Local Food Evening and Talent Show at 4 p.m., Power Pulling action beginning at 7 p.m., and music by the Broken Rule Band on stage.
Saturday, July 14 is Youth Day hosted by the Madison County 4-H and Cornell Cooperative Extension. Other highlights include the Power Wheels Demo at 1 p.m. followed by the demolition derby and rollover contest. At 7 p.m. the Lum Brothers Band will take to the stage.
Sunday, July 15 is Local Agriculture Day. Gates open at 8 a.m. with the Tractor Pull spinning off at 9:30 a.m. At 2 p.m. the bicycle giveaway will take place for ages 15 and younger (must be present to win). At 3 p.m. Matt Chase and the Thunder Canyon Band will perform. The Chainsaw Art silent action winners will be announced at 3 p.m.
Every day, the fair will offer 4H demonstrations and exhibits, Jennifer Black Chainsaw Artist (silent auction for carved pieces), Ag Aware-
ness display, crafters and demonstrations, animal shows, an Antique Stock Car display, midway rides, the Animal Alley Petting Zoo, Buffalo Barfield’s Unheard of Entertainment, and food vendors.
General admission is $3 on opening day and $5 for the remainder of the weekend. Children younger than 3 are admitted free every day. Anyone who brings a non-perishable food item will receive free admission.
