SHERRILL 7, CORTLAND4 » Chris Turco belted a three-run homer in the first inning of Friday’s New York Collegiate Baseball League contest against the Cortland Crush to propel the Silversmit­h’s to a 7- 4 win.

Andrew DeRoche recorded the win for the Sherrill, scattering five hits for a single run across six innings. Wesley Lahey picked up the save.

Andrew Roden added a pair of RBI on a fifthinnin­g single, and Nate Cormier went 3- for- 4 with a pair of runs scored for the Sherrill in the win as the silversmit­h inched closer to Eastern Division leading Onondaga Flames. season.

After Post 239 tied the contest at 7-7 in the fifth frame, Post 230 hurler TJ Horodnick quieted the Utica lineup across the final two innings of play earn the win. Starter Anthony Farina yielded seven runs on eight hits with two strikeouts before turning the ball over to Horodnick.
