2018 Softball Section III All-Stars
Oneida junior Shlotzhauer named Player of the Year
Following a season in which they won 21 games, were ranked as high as No. 2 in the state by the New York State Sportswriters Association, won a 12th straight TriValley Pioneer title, and reached their eight sectional final this decade, it is not a surprise to see Oneida dominate softball All-Star selections.
Oneida’s ace all season long after starting her career as the second half of a one-two punch, junior Kyra Shlotzhauer was named the 2018 TVL Player of the Year.
Third baseman Kaylin Curro, senior shortstop Bri Laureti, junior second baseman Lauren Skibitski, and sophomore catcher Reilly White were all named to the Tri-Valley Pioneer League First Team All- Stars. Alyssa Gienger, Emily Marshall, and Syndey Lusher received Honorable Mention bids.
Head coach Mike Curro also received recognition for yet another strong campaign, taking home Coach of the Year.
Tri-Valley runner-up Camden, whose playoff run came to an end against Oneida in the semifinals, garnered six all-star bids. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill followed with two after a rebuilding year in Verona.
Across the region, local softball teams placed 40 players on all-star teams for their respective leagues.
Following a 13th straight CCL title, Stockbridge Valley placed five on all-star teams. Madison, after finishing third in the CCL, followed with four all-star nods.
In the CSC-IV, Hamilton saw six players earn all-star bids, while CSC-I Canastota placed three.
