‘It’s Easy Being Green’ program

SHERBURNE, N.Y. » On the third Thursday of each month, the public is invited to learn that “It’s Easy Being Green” at Rogers Environmen­tal Education Center.

This new interactiv­e workshop series will explore a variety of topics related to resource use. Each month, participan­ts will explore a new environmen­tal topic, including plastic reduction, composting, and possible conservati­on actions.

“By offering ‘It’s Easy Being Green,’ our goal is to en- courage dialog,” said Marissa Nolan, senior environmen­tal educator. “Come share your thoughts over coffee and light refreshmen­ts.”

Beginning July 19, “It’s Easy Being Green” will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Rogers Environmen­tal Education Center, off State Route 80 in Sherburne. The first session explores the “Recycling Revolution,” and how it affects materials management. The programwil­l begin with investigat­ing different examples of resource misuse, and how current laws were inf luenced by past environmen­tal mishaps. The conversati­on includes related changes in legislatio­n, and how modern regulation­s help ensure effective materials management.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmen­tal Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organizati­on that offers educationa­l programs for people of all ages. Summer hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
