Historical selfie scavenger hunt
The Oneida County History Center invites everyone for the second annual county-wide scavenger hunt.
UTICA, N.Y. » Join the Oneida County History Center for the second annual historical selfie scavenger hunt.
Participants are invited to explore Mohawk Valley history through this interactive, county-wide scavenger hunt. Clue sheets will be available at the history center or at www.oneidacountyhistory.org starting Aug. 1. This program is free and open to all ages.
The rules are simple: Choose an Oneida County or Utica-based hunt and follow the clue sheet to historical sites, buildings, and markers around the greater Mohawk Valley. Take a selfie at each loca- tion on either a camera or smartphone after learning about the location’s history. Post the photos and tag the history center on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Upon completion, bring evidence of your journey to the Oneida County History Center located at 1608 Genesee Street, Utica.
The first five individuals to complete a hunt will receive a history center membership and a gift. All entries will be entered to win the grand prize gift basket, plus children 18 and under will receive a participation prize. All entries must be submitted in person at the history center by Aug. 31 at 4 p.m.
