Old Home Day in Whitelaw
Here it Comes
Does it seem it’s the time for the Whitelaw’s 60th Old Home Day? Saturday, Aug. 4 is time for it starting with the Grand Parade to get underway at 11 a.m. The theme this year is “60 Diamond Years in Whitelaw”.
Old Home Day is the fun-packed family oriented day that begins with the Grand Parade at 11 a.m. and then continues for a day of arts and crafts, skill games many vendors, musical entertainment with an auction in the evening, with lots of interesting items always offered up for your bidding that sometimes surprises you in the items that come up.
There is plenty of food throughout the day for your refreshment as well as beverages and to highlight each year is the famous Bach-Dunbar Chicken Barbecue that brings folks each year for the delicious meal from the surrounding area. They look forward to it and plan on attending year after year. Serving from 3 to 6 p.m.
Climax of the day is the Erick D. Stevens Memorial Fireworks display which begins at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Participants of the parade are judged with prizes awarded following the parade. There are still entries still open. If you are interested in entering, contact Claude Hertel at 315-461-1185. sponsored by the Madison County Office for the Aging? The suggested price is $4. The picnic is on Thursday, Aug. 16 at Chapman Park on Route 31 at Lakeport from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This Week’s Bands
In Sherrill at the gazebo in the Reilly-Mumford Memorial Park, Tuesday, July 31 from 6:30 p.m., “The Old Main” will be playing. Welcome The Old Main to Sherrill. They’ve been called everything from folk-rock to all-Americana for their original music and creatively reimagined [converts (Page 86)]. The Old Main’s raw acoustic sound and high-energy live performances are enjoyed by all.
Thursday, Aug. 2 at the International Boxing Hal of Fame in Canastota the band playing at the pavilion will be “Dan Elliott and the Monterays” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dan Elliot and the Monterays are CNY’s premier authentic oldies five-piece group. They have been performing all over Central New York for four decades. Rain Date Tuesday, Aug 7.
In Bridgeport at Chapman Peak on Monday, July 30 starting at 6:30 p.m. “TJ Sacco” will entertain for the last concert of the season, enjoy!
The Band Stand on Main Street in Sylvan Beach, Wednesday, Aug. 1 “East Shore All Start” will entertain from 7 to 9 p.m.
Dr. West Park, Genesee Street in Chittenango will have a concert this week on July 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. with “ReRun” entertaining.
Oneida’s city Center Market from 4 to 8 p.m. with the band “The Other Guise” in the Higinbotham Park Thursday, Aug 2 playing from 6 to 8 p.m.
Hamilton City’s On the Green Park, Thursday, Aug. 2, “Nate Gross Band” entertaining from 7 to 9 p.m. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. Come and enjoy all the activities from 5:30 p.m. in the center of downtown.
Free Movies
At the Sullivan Free Library in Chittenango on Wed, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. the movie will be “Lean on Pete” 2018, Rated R, running time 122 min. Stars Steve Buscemi and Travis Fimmel. A drama, it tells a teenager gets a summer job at a race track and befriends a race horse. Admission and popcorn are free.
On Friday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m., the free movie is titled “Turtle Tale”. The turtles, Hank, Rafi and Goliath and their community live in a beautiful pond with clean nice water, lots of food and are witnesses to all the events of the park as they get ready for another busy summer camp season, never suspecting what is about to happen at the park and to themselves.
Rabies Clinic
The Madison County Department of Health will hold a rabies vaccination clinic on Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Canastota Fireman’s Field, Hickory Street, Canastota.
Public Health Law requires all dogs, cats and ferrets to be vaccinated by four months of age. Vaccinations are available free of charge to Madison County residents.
A $5 donation is re- quested to help defray clinic costs. All animals must be at least three months of age and be properly restrained.
