OSCEOLA, N.Y. » Crowd-pleasing performer Tim Ball of Newfield, N.Y., will return to entertain fans at Osceola, on Sunday, Aug. 5, from 2-5 p.m. with a concert of old time fiddle music at the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum.
Ball will be accompanied by John Wobus of Syracuse on piano, and Curt Osgood of Binghamton on hammered dulcimer.
Ball’s fiddle repertoire is grounded in New England and Irish-American dance tunes. He is well known for a sensitive approach that allows him to traverse a wide range of styles, from Appalachian old-time to bluegrass and western swing. He cur- rently performs throughout the Northeast with his Celtic trio Arise & Go, contra dance bands Tempest and Center Street, and with Ithaca’s Irish session band Traonach. He has been a staple of the contra dance and Irish music scenes in western New York for the better part of a decade.
As a teacher or staff musician, Ball has been on faculty at week-long camps such as American Dance & Music week at Pinewoods (Massachusetts), the Ithaca Suzuki Institute, and the Kanack School Fiddle Camp (Rochester, N.Y.).
During the concert, patrons are encouraged to tour the Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum and check out the digitized historic fiddle performances. All the facilities are handicapped accessible and enclosable in the event of bad weather. Refreshments from the brand new Fiddlers Kitchen are available for enjoyment while watching and listening to the performance from new patio umbrella tables. A new, fully equipped children’s playground is available for the kids.
