OSCEOLA, N.Y. » Hall of Fame inductee Jackie Hobbs will entertain old fans and new listeners with a concert of old time fiddle music from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame andMuseum, 1121 Comins Road, Osceola.

Hobbs has been playing fiddle since the age of five. She grew up learning fiddle from her Grandmother Alice Clemens, whowas often called “The Queen of the New York State fiddlers.” Alice was instrumental in teaching hundreds of students through her lifetime, was co-founder of the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers’ Association, cofounder of the Fiddler’s Picnic and instrumental in establishing the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum in Osceola, NY

Hobbs has been carrying on the family tradition, performing around New York State her entire adult life. She has served on the board of directors of the NYSOTFA for many of the past 25 years and is about to begin a term as president of the association this month. She is on committees to plan and run the Fiddler’s Picnic Festival in Osceola and the Fiddler’s Fair at the Genesee Country Village & Museum, and is co-curator of the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum in Osceola.

Hobbs has received several honors, including induction for New York State into the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame in 2002, NYSOTFA’s Ray Cronk Award, and the title of Fiddle Tradition Standard Bearer Artist, awarded by the Genesee Country Village & Museum.
