Grant to improve recreation­al opportunit­ies

ONEIDA, N.Y. » The Arc of Madison Cortland, a non-profit organizati­on supporting people with disabiliti­es in Madison and Cortland Counties, has been awarded yet another grant from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support their recreation program.

NYSARC Trust Services administer­s supplement­al needs trusts (SNT) that canmake dramatic improvemen­ts to the lives of people with disabiliti­es while enabling them to maintain eligibilit­y for public benefits programs, such as Medicaid and SSI. For 2018, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabiliti­es by awarding a total of $2.78 million in grants to The Arc New York chapters statewide.

This summer NYSARC Trust Services has awarded The Arc of Madison Cortland a grant for improving recreation­al opportunit­ies for the people they serve. The programhas already gone on several group trips this year and hosted a number of guests and special events.

“I have enjoyed many trips that the NYSARC grant has funded,” stated Erica Ostwald from The Arc of Madison Cortland. “My favorite trip was when I rode in a limousine up to Alex Bay and

went on the Uncle Sam Boat Tours in the 1000 Is- lands.”
