ONEIDA, N.Y. » The Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce has named Oneida Dental Group member of the month for August.
Oneida Dental Group was established in 1985 when Dr. Edward DeCastro joined the practice of Dr. Richard O’Keefe and Dr. Mark Tiernan, who had been in practice together since 1958. DeCastro purchased the practice on Dec. 1, 1987. O’Keefe stayed with the practice until his retirement in 1989. Tiernan continued to work until his retirement in 1994.
Several associates have worked at Oneida Dental Group throughout the years. Dr. Anne Russell-Brien joined the practice in October 1999 and entered into a partnership with DeCastro in July of 2001. In July 2002, they hired Dr. Nathan Weires as their first associate. Weires became a partner in 2006. In September 2006, the partners hired Dr. Craig DeCastro (Dr. Edward DeCastro’s son) as an associate. At the end of 2010, Edward DeCastro retired and his son became the practice’s third partner at the start of 2011.
All three dentists are graduates of SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
The practice has made several improvements to their building since 1987. Of note are a 1989 remodel that finished a portion of the second floor to add an apartment and offices for the doctors. Two new dental operatories were also added in the current “Check Out” area. In 1995, an extensive project was undertaken to remodel the first and second floors. Both upstairs apartments were eliminated, and a break/staff room was added. Most recently, in 2003, a 1,400 square foot addition was added to the north side of the building. This space houses the doctors’ new operatories.
The practice is proud of their 60-year history. They are dedicated to continuing the tradition of outstanding service to their patients and the community.
