MUNNSVILLE, N.Y. » Gravity Fest, one of the original gravity sporting events in the world, is coming back to Madison County.

Emgee Events will relaunch the Gravity Fest in mid-September.

An International Downhill Federation sanctioned race and World Cup Qualifier, the 2018 Gravity Fest will welcome downhill skateboarders from around the world on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16 for two days of racing.

On Saturday, racers will practice and participate in a time qualifier event. The next day, on Sunday, participants will compete for top spots on the medal podium. There are free-ride times scheduled throughout both days.

The new organizers say the decision to bring the Gravity Fest back to life was an easy one, giving a laundry list of reasons why the location suits the event: “It’s the ideal ‘intermediate-plus’ track, with perfect pavement, 50 mph topend speeds, smooth sweepers, and the infamous ‘Crash Corner’ right hairpin turn, and an ideal spectator zone.”

Emgee Events also acknowledged the “important local support” of the Munnsville American Legion Post 54 as a nearby finish line location with food, drinks, pavilion, and rider campground.

If there is any interest in supporting the event, Emgee Events says there is always a need for corner marshals, setup, cleanup, and hay bale landscaping. All-day volunteers will receive a free lunch and gear prizes from sponsors.

It ran most recently in 2015 but the show was on ice un- til Emgee Events decided to relaunch the event, with the blessing of previous organizers and the Munnsville American Legion Post 54.
