10th meth bust nabs 2
The Oneida City Police busted their 10th methamphetamine lab in Oneida after it caught fire Friday.
On Aug. 31, Oneida City Police and the Oneida Fire Department were called out to Rocky Road after reports of smoke coming from a residence.
Firefighters checked the home in question and in the process, found evidence of a meth lab. Police say this was l ikely the cause of the smoke.
Witnesses reported seeing two males f leeing the scene prior to arrival of first responders. They were identified as John C. Barlow Sr., 45, and Blake Harwell, 32.
With assistance of the New York State Parole, Barlow Sr. was located at a residence on Madison Street and taken into custody. Shortly after, Harwell was found hiding in a closet at a residence on North Broad Street.
Police say during their investigation, they discovered Harwell had taken and used a vehicle without permission of the
owner; the vehicle was found parked in the Northside Plaza with materials inside used to make methamphetamine.
The New York State Po- lice Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Teamwas contacted and responded to both scenes and disposed of all hazardous materials found.
Barlow Sr. was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A-II felony; second-degree burglary, a class C felony; second-degree unlawfully manufacturing methamphetamine, a class C felony; third- degree unlawfully manufacturing methamphetamine, a class D felony and second-degree criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, a class A misde- meanour.
Barlow Sr. was arraigned before the Oneida City Court and is being held at the Madison County Jail without bail or bond. He will reappear before the court on a later date. A parole violation warrant was also lodged.
Harwell was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A-II felony; second-degree burglary, a class C felony; third- degree unlawfully manufacturing methamphetamine, a class D felony; second-degree criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, a class A misdemeanour and third-degree unauthroized use of a motor vehicle.
Harwell was arraigned before the Oneida City Court and is being held at the Madison County Jail without bail or bond. He will reappear before the court on a later date.
