St. Michael’s and the Archangels

UTICA » The Good News Center, 10475 Cosby Manor Road, Utica, will host “St. Michael and The Archangels” on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with guest speaker Annette Gape, who serves as a certified director of faith formation at St. John’s Church. She was trained through Loyola Institute for Ministry and has been a facilitator at The Good News Center leading Bible Study. Come and learn about St. Michael, St. Raphael, St. Gabriel and the other Archangel’s role in Salvation history. Through Scripture, prayer and art we will explore the relationships between the Archangels and God’s people. Cost is $12 per person or $10 for 1992 Club members. Suicide prevention

ONEIDA » The Kallet Civic Center in Oneida will screen the movie “The S Word,” a documentary that seeks to amplify the voices of those living after suicide attempts and loss, and to raise awareness about suicide prevention and resources. Senior coffee

Breakfast fundraiser

CANASTOTA » The United Church of Canastota will host a breakfast fundraiser for Enrich Missions (our partners in Nicaragua) on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 7-11 a.m. Meal will include pancakes, French toast, eggs cooked to order, bacon, sausage and beverages. The all-youcan-eat breakfast is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and free for those under 5. Take out available. There will also be a free will offering bake sale with a variety of baked goods, as well as Nicaraguan coffee for sale. Bring in loose change and returnable cans/bottles. All proceeds benefit the cause.

Bible Study

UTICA » Galatians is a study designed to reignite love for God. Paul’s letter to the Galatians speaks directly to the heart of Christians and addresses the most important question: “What must we do to be saved?” This fascinating letter reveals the merciful love that God the Father has for his children. It speaks of the extraordinary gift of salvation that Jesus has won for us, and it explains how we can unite ourselves to Christ’s redeeming sacrifice through faith and love. This study will be Wednesdays through Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to noon, or 6-8 p.m. at The Good News Center, 10475 Cosby Manor Road, Utica. St. Joseph senior bus trip

ONEIDA » The St. Joseph Senior Group is having a trip to Niagara Falls Oct. 2-4. This is with Diamond Tours. The price for a double is $275 and for a single $354. Flags for Heroes

UTICA » The Good News Center will once again post 1000 flags on Utica’s Memorial Parkway the week before Veterans Day, which will be on display Nov. 2-11. The flags will be tagged in memory or honor of a loved one. On Nov. 11, the hun- dredth anniversary of the end of World War I, a ceremony will take place at the Memorial Parkway where visitors can see the flags on display and hear keynote speaker, Jan Scruggs. Scruggs, a Vietnam veteran, founded the memorial that has become known as the Vietnam Wall. The cost to sponsor a flag is $35. You may also call for information on sponsoring a portion of the field. All proceeds will be used to support the Military Rehabilitation program at Sitrin Health Care Center. You can order by calling us at 315735-6210.

St. Pat’s Fall Bazaar

CHITTENANGO » St. Patrick’s Church, Chittenango, will host its annual Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 17. The festival will take place at the church (1341 Murray Drive) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Highlights will include: gift basket raffles, a variety of crafters, a country store with fresh baked goods, live music, a chance wheel, and contests and games for children in the music corner. There will be a grand raffle with a top prize of $1,000. Admission is free, and food will be available for purchase throughout the day.

Friendship Inn open each Thursday

MORRISVILLE » Friendship Inn at St. Joan of Arc Church offers a free weekly meal to the Morrisville community every Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. Non-denominational and open to all, regardless of financial need, Friendship Inn draws on a small army of volunteers who fulfill numerous tasks, from set-up, cooking, serving, to clean-up. Volunteers are always needed. Donations are welcome as well to supplement food offerings and to purchase equipment and supplies.
