2 nurse practitioners join team
ROME, N.Y. » Two new primary care providers have joined the team at Rome Medical Group, an affiliate of Rome Memorial Hospital. Diane Clute, FNP-C and Jonathan Mizgala, DNP, FNP-BC are now seeing patients at RMG.
“We are pleased to welcome Diane and Jonathan to Rome Medical Group,” said Rosemel Atkinson, vice president of physician practices for the hospital. “Both of these skilled family nurse practitioners have extensive experience in acute care, geriatrics and family practice, which has allowed them both to quickly become integral parts of our RMG health care team.”
As primary care providers, Clute and Mizgala provide individualized care for patients for prevention, wellness, and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
Clute received her associate degree in nursing from Crouse Hospital School of Nursing, Syracuse, her bachelor of nursing from SUNY Canton, and her master’s degree in nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner certification from SUNY IT, Utica.
Mizgala, a 2003 graduate of Rome Catholic School, has returned to the area after living and working in Chicago for the past few years. He received his associate degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing, Utica, his bachelor of nursing degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing, St. Louis, Mo., and his doctorate of nursing practice: Advanced Practice Nursing –Family Practice degree from Rush University College of Nursing, Chicago, Ill.
Both of the new primary care providers say they take a holistic approach to patient care.
“I take a patient centered approach,” Clute said. “It is important for me to get to know my patients and their families to assure that we are all working together to achieve their optimal wellness and good health.”
Mizgala agreed. “I like to take an active role in my patient’s health. I work to form a collaborative relationship with my patients, providing guidance, goals and expectations as we work together to come up with a plan for healthy living,” he said.
Clute and Mizgala both began their health care careers as registered nurses, but each said they decided to further their education to become Family Nurse Practitioners because they wanted to be able to be more involved in the total care of their patients.
“After working as a nurse for 19 years, I always felt the desire to be able to do more for my patients,” Clute said. “I feel that my nursing background also gives me unique insight into how I can best meet the needs of my patients.”
“Years of nursing led me to want to be more involved in patient care,” Mizgala said. “As a family nurse practitioner, I can be a resource to help patients stay healthy as well as help them when they are sick.”
The new Rome Medical Group primary care providers both said they are excited to be working with the RMG team, and are also looking forward to collaborating with other area health care providers to meet the needs of their patients.
