Business Department named No. 1 in CNY
The Business Teachers Association of New York State has named the Canastota Central Schools Business Department the 2017-18 Department of the Year.
CANASTOTA, N.Y. » The Business Teachers Association of New York State has named the Canastota Central Schools Business Department the 2017-18 Department of the Year.
Teachers Robert Esposito and Elizabeth Garofalo were chosen for the award because they have demonstrated”exemplary evidence in areas such as the CTE credential, specialized courses, work-based learning, student organizations and college credit,’’ according to Francine Martella, BTASNY Awards chairperson.
“As winners, they are a representation of outstanding and meritorious contributions for the development and advancement of Business and Marketing education,’’ she said.
“I amproud and humbled to work with such wonderful educators,’’ said June C. Clarke, superintendent of schools for Canastota. “Liz and Bob have provided our students with an excellent business education foundation. They have given them amazing real world experiences, created opportunities for travel and consistently coached award-winning Future Business Leaders of America teams. They are an asset to our school community and they work hard to motivate their students and move the department forward.’’
As part of the award, the Canastota Business Department will be showcased on the BTANYS website and they will be recognized at a future school boardmeeting.
