Brewer flies to first at Baldwinsville Invitational

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. » Vernon-Verona-Sherrill junior Delaney Brewer jetted to a first place finish in the small school portion of the Baldwinsville Invitational Saturday, one of just two runners to post a sub—minute finish.
The VVS junior finished the circuit in 18:06.5, nearly fourteen seconds faster than second place finisher Catie Eisenhut, of Lansing.
Red Devil teammate Olivia Furman, a fellow junior, finished 10th overall with a 19:20.4. to help VVS to 9th place team finish.
Chittenango fared the best as a team in Baldwinsville, grabbing second place behind an individual, third-place, 19:04.0 time from McKenzie Dombroski. Chelsea Lamphere took 13th overall as an individual to give the Bears another Top 15 runner on the day with a 19:33.8
Camden finished 19th as a team, led by a pair of freshman. Kiera Burke led the Blue Devils with a 21:54.3. Sydney Coleman added a 22:53.8.
Though Oneida did not field enough runners to qualify for a team score, freshamn Madison Mack joined Brewer and Dombroski in the small schools Top 5, coming in at 19:05.4, good for 4th overall.
Hamilton, another team shy on the required number of runners, was led by a Alexis Lapp’s 20:45.1.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. » Vernon-Verona-Sherrill placed 7th in the small school portion of the Baldwinsville Invitational, led Andrew Wright’s 17:12.6 and Joseph Guertin’s 17:30.8.
Cazenovia followed with a 41th place finish, led by Jared Smith’s 17:34.0. Noah Derochie followed with a 17:55.6 for the Lakers.
Simon Seidel helped Camden to a 15th place teamfinish with a sub-17:00 finish. The Blue Devil senior posted the 17th best individual time of the day with a 16:50.2. Teammate Jeremy Plumley followed with a 17:09.5 for Camden.
Oneida placed 30th as a team, led by Nathaniel Jennings’ 18:35.1 and Dylan Bartell’s 20:30.1.
Stockbridge Valley and Hamilton, though unable to field enough runners to complete the team portion, were led by Wyatt Becker’s 18:41.2 and Logan McPherson’s 21:18.0, respectively.
GIRLS SOCCER
Madison 2, Stockbridge Valley 0— In a battle of CCL foes, Jordan Mayne buried two goals to lead Madison to a 2- 0 win over Stockbridge.
Whitesboro 4, VVS 2 — Alyssa DellaPosta scored twice and served up an assist to lead Whitesboro over Vernon-Verona-Sherrill. Aleka and Laiken Kiser each recorded a goal for VVS in the defeat.
FIELDHOCKEY
Camden 10, New Hartford 0 — Camden had a trio of players record at least three goals in a convincing 10-0 win over New Hartford. Mackenzie Mix led all scorers with four goals, while teammates Lily Sullivan andMercedes Currie each put away three scores.
