Trivia night for cancer fundraising

-

UTICA, NY >> The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Madison County, presented by Upstate Cancer Center, kicks off its new fundraising season on Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. at the Oneida Legion.

The community is invited to come out, play trivia, and learn more about the Relay For Life movement and how they can help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle.

“Kick Off is our opportunity to showcase the many programs and services the American Cancer Society provides to our neighbors and friends in Madison County,” Melanie Francis, Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society said. “Our planning group has put together a great fundraiser to help get teams started this Relay season. We’d love to have more neighbors join us in the fight against cancer.”

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest peerto-peer fundraising event to save lives from cancer. At Relay For Life events, participants celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost and take action for lifesaving change.

During the kickoff event, community members will have the opportunity to register a team for the Relay For Life event, which will be held on June 1, 2019, from 12 pm to 10:30 pm, at Vets Field in Oneida.

The event will celebrate and honor local cancer survivors, patients and caregivers and showcase how funds raised benefit the local community. Speakers will include residents from Madison County that have benefited from the American Cancer Society’s programs and resources. It’s free to attend and refreshments are provided.

Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.
