ONEIDA, N.Y. >> Members of the Oneida Area Zonta Club will celebrate Rose Day in conjunctio­n with Internatio­nal Woman’s Day by presenting their annual Status of Women Award for 2019.

The award is to recognize a woman from the greater Oneida area whose projects and programs best express the ideals of Zonta Internatio­nal through service and advocacy in promoting the advancemen­t of women. The recipient will be honored at a public reception to be held on March 20, 2019.

The nominee should be a woman who resides or works within the greater Oneida Zonta Club area, and who is a visible advocate for women’s issues by her leadership participat­ion or originatin­g projects that address community issues.

Such advocacy is not limited to, but might include issues like domestic violence, literacy, health, quality of living conditions, education, politics, journalism, peaceful understand­ing/goodwill, justice/equality in working conditions, and more.

All area residents are invited and encouraged to join Zonta in the selection of a deserving candidate for this award.

The deadline to submit an applicatio­n is Dec. 31, 2018.
