6th annual convention Nov. 3-4 at the Oncenter
SYRACUSE, N.Y. >> It’s all fun and games at RetroGameCon.
One of Central New York’s biggest gaming conventions returns to the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at the Oncenter in Syracuse on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3-4, with an assortment of games, music, panels and celebrities - including the voice of Mario himself, Charles Martinet.
Martinet, a longtime employee of Nintendo, has voiced the company’s mascot plumber since 1995.
Numerous other gaming industry professionals, YouTube stars, musical guests and cosplay guests will also be in attendance, including Mike Pollock, John Riggs, Joe Granato, Nintendrew, Lame Genie, Super Thrash Bros., Danimal Cannon, and wrestling legends Sid Vicious and Terri Runnels.
The con will also feature more than 100 exhibitors, including video game vendors, artists, independent game developers, and major industry players like Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony. Most exhibitors are from Central New York.
There will be a free-play area featuring anassortment of video game consoles, a vintage computer room, movie room, tattoo artists, virtual reality demos, trivia, live game show contests, and more in the 60,000 foot exhibition hall.
In its sixth year, RetroGameCon has grown to be one of the premier fall events in Central New York where all things geeky, nerdy, and fun are celebrated. There will be panel discussions, video game tournaments, trading card game tour-
naments, cosplay contests, tabletop games, music, art, and more. The con also features the Extra Life charity, which donates money locally to theUpstateGolisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse.
New this year is a twoday pop-up gallery, “Mushroom Kingdom: Art Inspired by Super Mario,” which will feature works by dozens of Central New York artists to be auctioned off for Extra Life at the close of the convention.
Tickets are $20 pre-sale for a weekend pass or $25 at the door. The event runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
