Marcy man charged after domestic incident

VERONA, N.Y. >> A Marcy man has been charged after police say he threatened his ex-girlfriend in Verona.

OnOct. 20, deputies from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersecti­on of Beacon Light Road and Snyder Road in the Town of Verona for a reported domestic incident.

Upon arriving, they learned the victim had been a passenger in her car and her boyfriend was driving when they pulled into the Sav-On store at the corner of Routes 365 and 31 in the town of Verona. She said her boyfriend and his friend got out the car and went i nto the store when her ex-boyfriend Malc om J. Cummings, 27, from Marcy, entered the car in the driver’s seat.

The victim said Cummings was upset because he had seen her boyfriend get out of the car. Another woman in the backseat was attempting to calm Cummings down before he put the car in gear and drove off with the women still in the car. Both women said Cummings threatened to kill them by driving off the road and also threatened to return to the store and shoot the men they were with. They also reported that Cummings struck the victim in the face while he was in the car.

Cummings eventually pulled the car over to the side of the road and fled with the victim’s wallet, cell phone andcar keys. The victim then flagged down a passerby and asked him to contact the police.

Cummings was taken into custody a short time later on the gaming floor of the Turning Stone Casino by the Oneida Nation Police and turned over to the sheriff’s office. Cummings still had the victim’s wallet, cell phone and car keys on him at the time of custody. He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; petty larceny; unauthoriz­ed use of a motor vehicle; and menacing, all misdemeano­rs; and a harassment violation. He was held at the Oneida County Jail until he was arraigned at CAP Court.

Cummings was released after posting cash bail and an order of protection was filed ordering Cummings to stay away from the victim.
