UTICA Marcy resident wins Miracle Drawing
UTICA, N.Y. >> Marcy resident Anne Milograno was named the winner of the 22nd annual $100,000 Miracle Drawing.
Proceeds of the fundraiser benefit the local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH).
Milograno has supported the Miracle Drawing for the past 18 years, but never thought her name would actually be called. Milograno was making dinner with her daughter Sarah, while listening to the live broadcast, and was stunned when she heard her name.
“I didn’t know what to do with myself, and I truthfully don’t remember much after hearing my name, but there was a lot of screaming and jumping up and down,” said Milograno.
Milograno has always felt like part of the Children’s Miracle Network Family. Her daughter was diagnosed with a series of congenital heart defects as a child and spent several years in and out of the hospitals.
“I know first-hand the importance of the extra care and resources that CMN Hospitals provides to a family in the hospital,” said Milograno. “I know the difference a gift to CMN can make in the life of a child, which is why I buy tickets every year.”
The project, which benefits Maternal Child Services at FSLH, has raised more than $4.5 million over the past 22 years. Partners of the $100,000 Miracle Drawing are WKTV NewsChannel 2, Lite 98.7, The Observer-Dispatch, GPO Federal Credit Union, AmeriCU Credit Union and PJ Green.
“We are so thankful to all of the businesses, community partners and individuals that support this campaign; we wouldn’t be able to do it without them,” said Andrea MacDiarmid, CMN coordinator for the Mohawk Valley Health System. “Through the amazing response and overwhelming generosity in our community, we sold all of the 4,300 available tickets. We have one grand prize winner and nine bonus prize winners. Their support makes a difference in the lives of so many of the families we care for at FSLH.”
