Non-spooky Halloween fun
CANASTOTA, N.Y. >> The Great Swamp Conservancy Nature Center of Canastota’s spooktacular non-scary Halloween Fun Days for children and families continues today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is full of non-scary adventures with an environmental twist in the air. Families are guided through many rooms with surprises. Games, make ‘n take crafts, gator rides (weather permitting), and piñatas will be on site. Halloween portraits
of families or individuals will be taken by the Swamp Snappers Camera Club. Enter the Halloween coloring contest. Coloring contest forms can be picked up at the Canastota and Chittenango public libraries or on the GSC website at www.greatswampconservancy.org. Winners will be announced on Monday, Oct. 29.
Come dressed in a Halloween costume and receive a prize. Have your face painted, climb through the giant centipede, visit Lady Bug Café and have fun.
Special this year on Sunday, Oct. 28, the Mohawk Valley Strings will present “A Halloween Spooktacular”. This special 45 minute costume concert starts at 4 p.m. in the GSC museum and members consists of area youth to perform a haunting experience through music. The String Orchestra is lead by Liz Friedel, Allyson Sklar, with conductors: Joan Batson and Hannah Roth. Bring the kids, wear costumes and join the strings group for a trunk or treat following the concert. All are welcome to participate in the trunk or treat. Deck out the back of your cars, or trunk and pass out candy.
This is a free concert but donations are welcome to support the Mohawk Valley Strings.
