Camden, Oneida, VVS enjoy fruitful Section III titles VVS, 6th Place, Class CDivision I

CHITTENANGO, N.Y. >> The Camden Blue Devils took second place at the Class B level of Saturday’s Section III girls cross country championships.

Camden had four runners finish in the Top 10, including a second place individual finish from speedster Elizabeth Lucason (20:46.8). Teammate Haley Hinds claimed fourth overall with a 21:57.0 finish, and sister Morgan Lucason claimed seventh place with a 22:04.1. Catherine Seidl registered a ninth place finish with a 22:27.1.

Also competing in Class B, Oneida was unable to field a full roster, but that didn’t stop eighth grader Madison Mack from making her presence felt. The youngster finished third overall with a 21:51.4 to grab a spot in the New York State tournament.

Hosting Chittenango took fifth overall in Class B team scoring, using a pair of Top 20 finishes from McKenzie Dombroski (24:06.1) and McKayla Capeling (24:07.7) to climb the leaderboard.

In Class C Division I action, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill standout Delaney Brewer finished with the second fastest time of the day with a 21:49.6. Red Devil teammate Olivia Furman also cleared the Top 10, finishing eighth overall with a 23:24.9. Clara Rowles (24:19.1) led Cazenovia to a fourth place team finish.

Ava Baker (25:38.1) led Canastota to a sixth place finish in Class C Division II, while Alexis Lapp (22:44.1) paced Hamilton to a 6th place finish in Class D Division II.
