Introduction to Sculpture
CAZENOVIA, N.Y. >> The Cazenovia Public Library will continue its “Warming up to Winter” program series with an Introduction to Sculpture workshop with local artist Paul Parpard.
The three-hour program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. The opening lecture is free and open to the public. A $20 fee will be charged per workshop participant (ages 16 and older) to cover material costs.
Parpard earned anM.F.A. fromSyracuse University, where he went on to teach visual communications, communication design, advertising design, and computer graphic design. In 2018, he received a CNY Arts Grant to create a commemorative clay bust of Cazenovia’s founder, John Lincklaen. The grant is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts. An important aspect of the project is public education. Parpard is thrilled to invite the Cazenovia community to join him on his artistic journey.
During the workshop, participants will learn about Parpard’s commissioned work and create their own clay sculptures. The artist will also introduce the class to the process of creating bronze sculptures. Class size is limited to ten participants. Call or stop by the Library to reserve a spot.
