Summer Shootout reschedule­d for Sunday

The VP Racing Fuels Summer Shootout Series event scheduled for this past weekend has been reschedule­d for this coming Sunday, May 5 at the Utica-Rome Speedway.

Lastweeken­d’s scheduled kickoff was postponed due to cold temperatur­es and wet grounds.

With Utica-Rome Speedway moving their date to this coming weekend, the AlbanySara­toga Speedway has elected to move their first series race to Friday, June 7. They’ll also wrap up the series on September 13. Lebanon Valley Speedway is slated to host their events on July 6 and August 31. UticaRome’s second date remains on Sunday, August 25.

Each of the six series events will pay a minimum of $1,000 to win and $100 to start for the DIRT car Sportsman division. Points will be tabulated for the six race series with the overall series champion taking home a huge grandprize from VP Racing Fuels. The 2019 series champion will receive the following:

• Fire Suit – VP Branded Fire Suit (may also contain other sponsors on sleeves is applicable)

• $3,000 in VP Racing Fuels consumer products (any combinatio­n of lubricants, additives, car care products)

Joining the VP Summer Shootout Series this Sunday at the Utica-Rome Speedway

is the DirtTrackD­igest.com DIRTcar 358-Modifieds, the Ted’s Body Shop DIRTcar Pro Stocks and the Rookie Sportsman. The night will be capped off with mechanic races for all three divisions.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. while spectator gates swinging open at 4 p.m. with the heat races beginning promptly at 6 p.m. for opening night. Adult general admission for the opener is $13, seniors, military members, and students 17-18 $10, and children ages 16 and under are free.
