Verona — The Verona Historical Association will meet on Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. for a presentation by WilliamJ. O’Hern about the Adirondacks. The public is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
‘Spring’ for Books
Sherrill — The Sherrill Kenwood Library will host its fourth annual “Spring” for Book event Thursday, May 16, from11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Patrons are asked to help the library add 100 books to its shelves? A wide variety of adult and children’s fiction and non fiction will be available for purchase to be donated back to the library. The musical department of E. A.McAllister Elementary School will performNYSMA instrumental solos at 1 p.m. The Cremerai Gelato Cart and Gypsy Girl Woodfired Pizza will also attend.
Sign language night
Oneida — The Oneida Public Library will host a Family Sign Language Night on Wednesday, May 15, at 6 p.m. All familymembers can learn the basics, helpful words and phrases of American Sign Language. Megan Gillander, a sign-language adept, will lead the class.
Monday matinee
Oneida — The Oneida Public Library will show a “A Star is Born” onMonday, May 20, at 1 p.m. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper star as the star-crossed lovers in this popular 2018 remake of the classic tearjerker.
‘LegoMovie 2’
Oneida — The Oneida Public Library will show “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” on Wednesday, May 22, at 6 p.m. The latest in the popular animated film series, “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” follows the hero Emmett as the Lego people struggle with the diabolical Duplos.
Canastota art show
Canastota — The Canastota Central School District will hold its district-wide art showat theVincentAlbanese Complex onMonday, May 20, from 5-7 p.m. Artwork from students throughout the district in grades pre-K-12 will be on display.
VVS art show
Verona — The VernonVerona- Sherrill Central School District will hold its district-wide art show at the Sheveron Center on Thursday, May 16, at 6 p.m. Artwork fromstudents throughout the district in grades pre-K-12 will be on display.
Vernon — The Holy Family Church Food Pantry on Peterboro Road in Vernon serves families in Vernon, Vernon Center, Sherrill, Oneida Castle and Oriskany Falls. The food pantry is open the first and third Monday and Friday of every month. Monday is open 5-6:30 p.m. and Friday is open 9:30-11 a.m. Fresh food is the fourth Thursday of every month open 3-4:30 p.m.
Upcoming dates for the food pantry are: Friday, May 17; Monday, May 20; and Thursday, May 23.
SVCS budget hearing
Munnsville — The Stockbridge Valley Central School Public Hearing for the 201920 School Budget will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. Coinciding with the public hearing, there will be an opportunity to meet the candidates running for the Stockbridge Valley Central School Board of Education. There are two open seats for three-year terms currently held by Niki Maiura and Doug Reed. Candidates running for the Board of Education are Niki Maiura, Doug Reed and Michael Gough. The SVCS Regular Board of Education meeting will be held immediately following the Public Hearing on May 14, 2019 in the school library.
MECS budget hearing
Morrisville — The Morrisvi lle- Eaton Central School District will hold a public budget hearing on Tuesday, May 14, at the middle/high school library at 7 p.m. to discuss the proposed $17.3 million 20192020 budget. A budget vote will take place on Tuesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at E.R. Andrews Elementary School.
OCSD budget hearing
Oneida — The Oneida City SchoolDistrict Board of Education will hold a public budget hearing on the proposed 2019-20 school budget on Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at the Costello Transportation Center, 1136 Freedom Drive, Oneida.
Clockville cemetery meeting
Clockville — The annual meeting of the Clockville Cemetery Association will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at the Clockville Methodist Church at 7 p.m. The public is invited; all cemetery lot owners are encouraged to attend. Work dates will be scheduled at this time. Workers are needed to help spruce up the cemetery.
Zonta Club meeting
Canastota — The Oneida Area Zonta Club will hold its monthly dinner and business meeting Wednesday, May 15 at Theodore’s Restaurant in Canastota. The Finance and Awards Committee will host the dinner followed with the installationof officers andthe initiation of new members. The social time will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Members unable to attend or are bringing a guest are advised to call Nancy no later than May 8.
Canastota/Lenox Seniors
Canastota — The Canastota/Lenox Seniors will have a covered dish “birthday” luncheon on Thursday, May 16 at noon at the VFW Hall, 3835 Canal Road, Canastota. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Dessert, coffee and tea will be provided by the club. Speaker will be Sarah Forth, of the village of Canastota Recreation Board. Anyone who would like to come early and set up is welcome and people are needed for a clean-up committee afterward. The nominating committee will present a slate of the officers for the coming year. New officers will be installed July 17 at the Spaghetti Factory, Route 13, in Sylvan Beach at noon. The cost will be $16 per person. Reservations and paymentmust be made by May 30 and sent to Julie VanValkenburg, 8711 Eddy Road, Canastota, or call 315-697-7368. Reservations and payment can also be made at the May 16 meeting. Zoo and water park raffle
Sherrill — The SherrillKenwood Library will give away two admission passes to both the Wild Center in Chittenango and Enchanted Forest Water Safari. Children in grades K-6 can enter the drawing by reading and writing a book report. They can enter more than once. Entry forms are available at the library. Previous winners are not eligible to enter. The drawing for the pass to The Wild Center will be held May 16. The drawing for the pass to Enchanted Forest Water Safari will be held June 3.
