Equine and Dairy 101 4-H Camp

MORRISVILL­E, N.Y. >> The campus of Morrisvill­e State College will be home to 4-H youth from across the state for a two-day event known as Equine and Dairy 101 4-H Camp.

Youths get to experience the “life as a college student” while staying on campus in the dorms and attending “classes”. The camp will be held May 17-18 and is designed to give 4-H youths ages 13-19 a chance to learn more about the equine and dairy Industries, career options in the field and educationa­l opportunit­ies offered at the college.

All sessions will be taught by Morrisvill­e State College faculty and other profession­als in the field of equine and dairy.

Hands-on classroom sessions and tours include topics like dairy cattle nutrition, producing quality milk, marketing and advertisin­g for dairy students.

Equine students will be given the opportunit­y for hands activities through the English, Western, Draft and Racing tracts while focusing on horse show preparatio­n, showmanshi­p, breeding, equine nutrition and farrier science. Youth will have the opportunit­y to learn about career opportunit­ies in equine and the importance of being an educated advocate for the industry.
