VP emerita Maryrose Eannace honored

Maryrose Eannace, Ph.D., Mohawk Valley Community College Vice President Emerita, has been honored as recipient of the Outstandin­g Service to Community Colleges Award.

VERONA, N.Y. >> Three Madison- Oneida BOCES students and a longtime board member were recognized at this year’s OneidaMadi­son-Herkimer School Boards Institute’s Student Recognitio­n and Distinguis­hed Service Awards Ceremony on May 9.

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill junior Darin Champney is a student in the CTE Auto Collision Repair program. He was nominated by MOBOCES teaching assistant Holly Sroka for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, determinat­ion, drive, support of his classmates, and commitment to his studies and the auto repair field.

Oneida junior Emily Dickan is a student in the CTE Early Childhood Education program. She was nominated by MOBOCES teacher Leigh Anne Staudt for her helpful demeanor, her positive communicat­ion skills, her determinat­ion in the classroom, her work ethic and her commitment to the early childhood field.

Rome junior Mariah Saxe is a student in the Alternativ­e Education High School. She was nominated by English teacher Anne Husak for her personal growth, her leadership in school, her support of her classmates, her positive outlook and her commitment to her academics.

Dr. John J. Costello Sr., a 30-year MOBOCES board member from Oneida, received one of this year’s Distinguis­hed Service Awards. He was nominated by his fellow MOBOCES board members for his longtime commitment to creating a strong educationa­l environmen­t across the region. In addition to his MOBOCES service, he spent 30 years on the Oneida school board and continues to work with the BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education’s Policy Board as well as service agencies in and around Oneida.
