Walk with a Doc in Oneida
ONEIDA, N.Y. >> Madison County Rural Health Council is encouraging residents to take a step toward better health with Walk with a Doc (WWAD), a health program that brings doctors and patients together to walk once a month in locations throughout the county.
The next walk will take place on Saturday, May 25, from 10-11 a.m. on the Oneida Rail Trail “Monday Mile” on Seneca Street in Oneida with Dr. Daniel Ratnarajah from the MDVIP-affiliated Primary Care Practice in Oneida.
Walk with a Doc is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. The Madison County Rural Health Council is dedicated to promoting the WWAD program and its mission in Madison County.
All are welcome to join the walk. The event is free and pre-registration is not required. Walkers will enjoy a refreshing and informative walk with Ratnarajah. He will share why exercise matters for overall good health and then lead the group on a mile-mile walk.
Madison County Rural Health Council joins a growing list of organizations and communities nationwide that have started local Walk with a Doc (WWAD) programs. WWAD was created by Dr. David Sabgir, a cardiologist with Mount Carmel Health Systems in Columbus, OH. He has walked with patients and community members every weekend since 2005.
